Two notable (and expensive) restaurants, a block from each other, left us with very different emotions on back-to-back weekends.
Restaurant 1:
· Empathetic hostess when difficulty with parking made us late.
· Smiling server “held our hand” and showcased passion, joy and expert knowledge about the cuisine and menu.
· Server proactively knew our dietary restrictions as noted when we made the reservation and steered us accordingly.
· Barback asked how our meal was going when dropping off our drinks.
Restaurant 2:
· Transactional hostess citing policy when the friends joining us were running late.
· Cold second hostess proactively informed us how long we’d have the table for as we sat down and received our menus.
· Robotic server lacked energy and showcased no passion or desire to take us on a culinary journey.
· Barback forgot to bring back drink menus, when I inquired, after they cleared our first round.
The food was outstanding at both restaurants. The cost was the same.
