It was a really hot summer. Super hot actually, especially in the city and I found myself patronizing more independent coffee shops since our local Starbucks location had closed its doors. One Sunday afternoon my sister and I decided to head into the new Bourse Food Hall and buy a cold drink from Menagarie and the service was incredible.
My sister ordered us each an iced tea not knowing there were a few options to choose from. The cashier went over their specialty flavors and even proactively poured us a sample as the one flavor we were leaning towards had an acquired taste. We loved it and ordered two glasses. Meanwhile the cashier saw that I was holding a reusable water bottle and asked if I would like a refill. This was a small gesture but was so unbelievably appreciated on such a hot day. Finally, with drinks in hand, and a full water bottle, the cashier saw us beginning to search for lids and straws. Before we could blink the cashier made his way around the counter and was handing us the drink components we needed when normally this process was self-serve.
His proactive mindset made us feel like a VIP and we will be sure to spread the word about how we were made to feel. And the iced tea wasn’t bad either!
Q – Have you ever patronized a business solely based on the service they provide?
